Food systems are the most important component of modern society. OSMO is a nonprofit that assists farms with architectural design solutions. We can take your vision and create a design concept. We can also partner with your farm on grants and other forms of financing to make your dream a reality.
PROJECTS
SUMIDA FARM, O'AHU
Since 2021 OSMO has worked with Sumida Farm, a watercress producer on the Hawaiian island of O'ahu. Our design intent has been to create a structure with a dual program. Half of the building is set aside as a worker shelter, allowing the farm workers space to prepare food and take their lunch break. Storage is provided for farm tools and personal effects. The other half of the building is given over to a interactive classroom environment. This allows school children to come to the farm and learn about agricultural processes. By incorporating trellises as classroom walls, the farm literally enters and becomes part of the learning experience.
